Clarissa, Ph.D., is a Jungian psychoanalyst, poet, and storyteller who tracks the wild woman archetype throughout her book.

Dr. Clarissa decided to write this book because, as a psychologist herself, she wanted to support women in their deeper healing and provide a compass that would guide them throughout their journeys. According to her, traditional psychology lacked female archetypes; the most inspiring archetypes were male ones. The main characters and symbols in the stories she compiled provide systematic guidance to recover what was seemingly lost, tools to reclaim sovereignty, and ways of coming home to yourself so that living a feminine, soulful life where your authentic and unique gifts can be fully utilized, and you can fully reclaim your beautiful voice and mind.

Archetypes are images or symbols used in myths and stories to help us understand our experiences as humans. Archetypes are especially helpful in navigating our inner world and understanding the unconscious parts of ourselves that affect the way we view ourselves and the world. A few examples of archetypes that you may already be familiar with include the Hero, the Inner Child, the Inner Critic, and more. Each of these archetypes lives inside of us, which is why when we see them in films or read them in stories, we find these characters captivating. Although archetypes are universal and live in the collective unconscious within our psyche, they show up in different ways depending on the culture, the time in history, and the stories around us.

Together, we will embark on a journey of many initiations that will help you find medicine for each of your own journeys reflected in these stories.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN DURING EACH SESSION?

During each session, I will retell a story from the book and explain the archetypes and symbols used in it. After that, we will engage in a conversation and activities to enhance our understanding of how these symbols and archetypes are manifesting in our internal and external worlds.

SESSIONS:

  • Session 1 (18 Oct) - Introduction to the course and the story of La Loba, The Wolf Woman - Meeting the Core of the Wild Women Archetype

  • Session 2 (25 Oct) - The story of Bluebeard - knowing the predator that lives inside and outside of our psyche. The story teaches us to be curious and helps us shed nativity.

  • Session 3 (1 Nov) - The story of Vasalisa the Wise - the importance of listening to your intuition as a key element that allows the Wild Woman to thrive in life, a way to be discerning and let the Too-good Mother archetype die.

  • Session 4 (Nov 8)  The story of Manawee - the power of keeping the ego and soul-self integrated and looking at the most common distractions that take us away from our soul-work.

  • Session 5 (Nov 15) - The story of Skeleton Woman - learning about life/death/life nature. Looking at different phases of love in our romantic relationships.

  • Session 6 (Nov 22) The story of the Ugly Duckling - the power of endurance to keep going despite the harshness and not settling until one finds the community they belong with. The archetype of the mother and that of the unmatched child.

  • Session 7 (Nov 29) The story of the Red Shoes - knowing that a woman needs a handmade life. A wild woman has to have a life made by the soul and for the soul. When our life is not made by or for the soul, we become trapped and develop unhealthy addictions. The story serves as a warning of what not to do.

  • Session 9 (Dec 6) The story of Sealskin, Soulskin - the wild woman knows the importance of soul life and knows to create the time to spend there. It’s a story of integrating the soul and the outer life

  • Session 11 (Dec 20) The story of the Crescent Moon Bearrighteous rage as a teacher; knowing when to be enraged and draw boundaries, end relationships, etc. The deeper understanding that no magic pill/no single solution will save you.

  • BREAK

  • Session 12 (Jan 10) The story of The Woman With Hair of Gold - The wild woman does not carry shameful secrets, as a wild woman cannot live in the psyche with a dead zone that shameful secrets create. The story of secrets, the matrilineal lineage, and turning wounds into scars.

  • Session 13 & 14 (Jan 17 & 24) The story of the Handless Maiden - the complete journey of women’s lives and the integration of the feminine with the masculine.

I am so grateful for the time I have shared with this group of women. As an English teacher I love diving deep into stories, but never before have I felt such spiritual connections to them.

Iza creates a calm, comfortable, and supportive space to listen, journal, and share. These sessions have become the highlight of my week and are so important to my own self-discovery.  - Meg

Iza’s Reclaiming Your Wild Feminine course has allowed me to gain a better understanding of myself in a nurturing environment. Iza creates such a safe, welcoming space for women. She is an awesome facilitator and so knowledgeable on the content. You can also tell she is passionate about doing this work. In this course I am learning to embrace all parts of me and connect with my soul self. The stories are always told at the perfect time and each week tackles something new. I will always be able to revisit the content learned in this course and apply it in new ways. My biggest worry was the time commitment, and I’m so glad to have made the leap! This course has flown by and it has become such a welcome routine in my life. I highly recommend it to anyone who is feeling called to dig deeper. - Jacquie

This course has been truly eye opening. I have been able to understand myself in a deeper way and find appreciation in myself, in all that entails. When deciding whether or not to take this course, I was worried about the time commitment. After just a couple weeks I realized that this was giving the gift of time to my well-being and has been something I look forward to every week. It has been beautiful to share this space with other women also on the path to a higher self and further understanding their own power. This has truly been a life changing course and will stay with me forever. I cannot recommend this course enough!  - Felicia

I am enjoying every minute of our workshops! They are insightful, healing and transformative! Iza has a lot of wisdom and she provides such safe, welcoming and non judgmental environment for all of us women to learn, share and heal.

Every time after our workshop, I come home feeling refreshed and the insights from the session just effortlessly flows out into my life, helping me live in a more integrated way.

This has been one of the most powerful workshops I’ve done and there are so much to learn from this truly amazing book.- Mandy

This course was exactly what I was looking for. I had been thinking for a while about putting some structured self-work into practice but I wasn’t sure where to begin. I wanted something meaningful, productive and deep. When I read the description from Iza, it seemed to scream out to me as exactly what I needed. What this course provides is a small group of like- minded women sharing time and space each week to contemplate, write and discuss ideas to do with the self, but also how we see ourselves reflected in society and in others. Yet most importantly, the course is about self - reflection, self-development and self-actualisation.

I feel the course has helped me enormously to focus on me: my thoughts, emotions, motivations and desires.

Iza is amazing: kind, knowledgeable, empathetic and impassioned. She delivers the course with enthusiasm, wisdom and care, which inspires reflection and authenticity.

I am so happy I decided to sign up for the course. I feel I have gained insight, developed more self- awareness and discovered some blossoming friendships. - Vanessa

I learned about the book 'Women who run with the wolves' after a friend recommended it. A collection of mythology stories about women. When Iza said she is starting a 16 weeks' long program based on the book I was thrilled. I love the moon circles Iza is hosting and so, I was certain she'll bring her unique approach and knowledge to this program too. With a magical group of  women gathered for this, we met every Saturday morning and went on a fascinating, empowering journey. Even my concern of committing to 16 Saturdays was gone quickly as I found myself looking forward to our weekly session. I highly recommend this program. It's been a wonderful experience.- Yael

I am so grateful for Iza’s “Reclaiming Your Wild Feminine” course. Before taking the course, there were parts of me that wanted to embrace my femininity in the wildest ways possible. Yet, I allowed fear and the loud rumblings of being “a responsible adult” to dull me into a false sense of security in being “Other”. For years I was convinced that external forces were responsible for creating that “Other” that I barely recognized, and pretty much fought against constantly.

I took Iza’s course to help me identify my stumbling blocks. Through a series of myths and stories of the wild women archetype, Iza had us listen with our inner ear, reflect, and analyze the impact of these stories and myths in our own lives. The story of  Bluebeard, our inner predator, resonated with me the most. This was because I finally realized that somewhere along the way, I had stopped trusting my own instincts, doubting my intuition, and almost gave up on life. Hearing the other women in the class share their understanding also made me feel supported in the process of identifying my stumbling blocks.

We all know that learning from stories is a powerful tool at our disposal. Taking Iza’s “Reclaiming Your Wild Feminine” courseis another powerful tool in our arsenal to help us unearth and reconnect to the parts of ourselves to make us whole again. Now that I’ve taken Iza’s course, I feel equipped and empowered with a different understanding of the complexities and beauty of being feminine. - Magalie

This workshop truly is a magical journey. Walking along with Iza and other wonderful ladies in this book, Women who Run with Wolves, has been a highly rewarding time for me every Saturday. As we dive deeply into each story, I explore my inner world of myself and the power of intuition. Resonating with other women offers me a better understanding of my interactions with people, cultures, and society.

Iza is such a fantastic facilitator and full of wisdom. She creates a safe, open-minded, and inspiring space for all of us to share and reflect on ourselves. I am a bit sad that this course is almost to the end, and I look forward to joining other workshops Iza will organize in the future. - Danni

Warmly,

Iza
